Evidence

Rich had been sliced like watermelon, his paunch leaking out on the kitchen floor. With some clarity afforded him through the filter of adrenaline he had pushed Nina's short frame out of harm's way. He knew at the moment that the pain of the cold knife would be subdued quicker than the regret of seeing it in Nina, as it separated her taught flesh over and over again in the play back of the mind.

True, there relationship was faulty at best but now these type of events brought them closer together. At least they had something with what to fill empty atmosphere that hung low above their queen size bed. Besides, he did take a knife for her! She kissed his scar as it smiled back her. It even winked, proof of just how far he would go for her. It was a test and she loved tests.

She tested it with the kid conversation. "Honey I want a kid."

"Wouldn't we have to have sex to have a baby?" he jeered in attempting to circumvent the approaching storm.

True, he hadn't a reason against it, the money was rolling at his uptown architecture firm, hell even the house was half way theirs. They had been engaged for almost two years now. Richard just wanted to keep all the doors open behind him, just in case.

But all of humanity was against him. What's more it was unheard of in the Midwest. And as usual he didn't do it so much to please her but to get her to stop crying. The tolerant one always compromises. He made a concession and then they consummated it by rolling over each other.

Following the robbery they decided to get a dog. It was a fierce little bitch but they slept better at night, both feeling secure but for completely different reasons.
